Local Legislation Tracking

From DevSummit

Facilitated by Amanda Hickman, Gotham Gazette

Amanda will look fairly briefly at tools that local projects have built to track legislation and legislators and then work together to put together a map of open governments (states and municipalities where legislative and other public data is readily available as data) and tools that exist to use this data. The discussion will be designed to bring out new answers and resources, and while Amanda'a interest is in US-based projects, cases from abroad will be welcomed.

NOTES

There were three of us, so we mostly just geeked out. We did look at:

Gotham Gazette generates a database of city laws passed (w/voting records) at http://www.gothamgazette.com/city/vote_records.php

http://www.smartvoter.org

http://www.maplight.org
