What do people use?

  • Textsecure is mobile shared key encryption. Validated through phone numbers. Currently Android only, soon will run on iPhones, questionable if that will really be secure.
  • Internet relay chat (IRC), use IRSSI terminal-application, has a plugin for encrypted chat
  • Ranqzen (tibetan for freedom) one to many chat, currently being designed
  • Cryptocat
  • XMPP + OTR
  • Retroshare
  • PGP with Thunderbird
  • Pidgin with OTR
  • Tor
  • Pond
  • Tox. Text, video, audio
